Alex (Priyanka Chopra) will find her work in the CIA challenging and a lot different than what they have been trained to do in the FBI in the new season of "Quantico."

After graduating from the academy, the female recruit was offered a job as an intelligence officer at Langley. Although the last season ended with a cliffhanger since Alex's answer to the offer was not shown, executive producer Josh Safran told TV Guide that it was a foregone conclusion. Chopra's character, he said, would have to adjust to the many dissimilarities between the FBI and CIA, but knowing her skills and capabilities, she would likely do well. According to the showrunner, he has always been interested in portraying the differences of how the government organizations work.

Alex's job at the CIA will not send her running around and defusing bombs. Safran said it would be more about mind games, where the agent needs to gather information to figure things out before they can happen. This way, the CIA could prevent bigger problems from taking place as soon as possible. In the academy, Alex and the other recruits were trained to respond to emergencies that arose on a regular basis. Alex excelled in the FBI's ways of things. It is expected that she will also do well as an intel officer.

Meanwhile, the EP told Entertainment Weekly that they have plans to introduce new characters in the series since Alex left most of her colleagues in the FBI. Safran shared that there would also be returning cast members, but season 2 would focus more on new stories and circumstances. He said that their target was not to continue with things that took place in the last installment but to explore new avenues.

"We have new stories to tell, and there will be returning cast members, but season 2 is definitely more of a new novel than the next chapter. It's like, instead of a sequel that continues the story, [we follow] the character who's been through what they've been through but further down their road. So yes, there will be new people, new circumstances, but also returning people," he said, according to EW.

"Quantico" season 2 is rumored to return in Fall 2016 on ABC.
