'Red Dead Redemption 2' release date: November launch date false; poster a fake

(Facebook/Red-Dead-Redemption)"Red Dead Redemption 2" is rumored to arrive in 2017.

"Red Dead Redemption 2" continues to be plagued by speculations, especially when it comes to the rumored sequel's release date. Its existence has yet to be confirmed by Rockstar Games, but that has not stopped avid fans from drumming up theories online. But perhaps the most recent news related to the game that's drawing attention is a "Red Dead Redemption 2" poster.

Titled "Red Dead Retribution," the poster shows a Native American woman at the forefront, holding a gun as well as carrying a bow and a quiver of arrows. It also comes with a release date attached: Nov. 18. Needless to say, the poster drew in a lot of attention and it did not take long before it circulated online.

A lot of people got excited, mostly because a release date was seemingly leaked for the "Red Dead Redemption" sequel. However, the poster was eventually proven to be a fake.

As VG247 pointed out, mimicking the font of "Red Dead Redemption" is not a difficult thing to do. The art style featured in the poster is also not something Rockstar Games usually opts for. And even though many people would like to believe that the image is real, it is more likely that it is not. The publication later confirmed that the poster is, in fact, a fake and is only a part of a fan project.

As for what can be expected of the game, "Red Dead Redemption 2" will reportedly see the same map from the first title. However, this time around, it will contain new areas. Two new protagonists are also believed to be included.

In other news, talks of a remastered "Red Dead Redemption" have also been making rounds online. The rumor mainly stems from the game being revealed to be backwards compatible with Xbox users.

The sequel is expected to arrive in 2017. But since nothing has been confirmed so far, fans should take this news with a grain of salt.
