'Resident Evil 4' release date, features: Video game to get re-released on Xbox One, PS4 on Aug. 30; Will run at 1080, increased frame rate

One of the greatest video games of all time, Resident Evil 4 gets an official re-release date on Aug. 30 through consoles Xbox One and PlayStation 4.

Capcom's video game will get an upgraded resolution of 1080p and an enhanced frame rate. The enhancements are akin to that of its successors, Resident Evil 5 and Resident Evil 6.

The news was generated through its North American PlayStation Store and the Xbox Games Store. The revelation came along with the game's size, price and its new avatars. The North American store is set to retail the game for $19.99 which will also include two 20th Anniversary avatars. The avatars will feature the game's Leon along with the Umbrella logo. Meanwhile, the European PlayStation Store has revealed that the entry from the Resident Evil franchise will be taking around 8.4 GB of space from the console's hard drive.

Moreover, both the Xbox and the PlayStation stores' sites have already been updated to coincide with the imminent re-release with the synopsis: "Featuring a thrilling storyline taking place after the destruction of Umbrella Corporation, Resident Evil 4 not only changed the course of Resident Evil but influenced countless other titles as well."

The entry from the acclaimed survival horror series will be released on PlayStation 4 and Xbox One consoles on Aug. 30 along with the digital PS4 version, which will be unlocked at 12:00 a.m. ET. On the other hand, a retail version of the game is also slated to be launched in North America . The official release date in the region has remained undisclosed as of this writing.

Further, the re-release version of Resident Evil 4 on Xbox One is now available for pre-order. The re-released versions of Resident Evil 5 and Resident Evil 6 have also been previously introduced for Microsoft's home video game console.
