'Resident Evil 7' news: Capcom to make 'Resident Evil' announcement at E3 2016

(Capcom)'Resident Evil 7' is rumored to be in development and may be unveiled at E3 2016.

Capcom is rumored to make an announcement regarding "Resident Evil 7" at the E3 2016 taking place this June. Based on the latest reports, the game announcement will be about the latest installment in the "Resident Evil" franchise, which is already in development.

Rumors ramped up after Kantan Games CEO Serkan Toto seemingly confirmed the news on his Twitter a few days ago. Toto also revealed that "Resident Evil 7" will act as a clean slate and it will be influenced by the horror roots of the "Resident Evil" franchise.

The "Resident Evil 7" development team reportedly includes Jordan Amaro, a designer who also worked on "Metal Gear Solid 5: The Phantom Pain."

Unfortunately, Toto did not specify where his information came from. As such, they remain to be rumors for now. On the other hand, Capcom has been very vocal about its plans for the "Resident Evil" franchise.

Capcom recently released the report on its consolidated financial earnings for the fiscal year ending in March 2016. The report outlines the company's plans for "Resident Evil."

"In the fiscal year ending March 31, 2017, the Company is scheduled to release the strategic titles of ... 'Resident Evil Umbrella Corps' (for PlayStation 4 and PC) of the 'Resident Evil' series, which marked its 20th anniversary in March 2016, as warm up to the full-scale offensive planned for the second half of the year," the report revealed.

Spin-off game "Umbrella Corps" will be released in June. Capcom has also announced plans to release "Resident Evil 5" and "Resident Evil 6" for the PlayStation 4 and the Xbox One. Capcom also has titles like "Resident Evil 2" and "Resident Evil: Bio-Terror" in development.

Many fans now believe that Capcom's "full-scale offensive" could possibly include "Resident Evil 7." News of Capcom's plan, taken with Toto's recent revelations, does strongly imply the arrival of "Resident Evil 7" sometime this year.
