As the release date for "Resident Evil 7: Biohazard" draws nearer, Capcom has been steadily releasing teasers and hints to add to the excitement that's already surrounding the game.

The announcement that Capcom would be releasing a new "Resident Evil" game was greeted with excitement and not a small amount of trepidation from fans, especially when it was revealed that the game would be going back to its first-person roots.

"Resident Evil 7: Biohazard" will have players controlling a character named Ethan. The protagonist is apparently on a mission to locate his missing wife and will inevitably find himself in a mysterious and rundown house known as the Baker Mansion. Unlike his predecessors, though, Ethan is no soldier and has none of their fighting prowess. All he has to rely on are his wits and survival instinct as he combats the mansion's inhabitants, a group of people with a unique taste in food.

To further emphasize how different "Resident Evil 7" is from the previous games, Capcom has recently released a number of 30-second teasers that hint at how the game developers integrated the feel and atmosphere of the first "Resident Evil" game.

The latest teaser, "Stock Up," shows the player opening his switch knife and proceeding to smash open a box and cutting through a wrapped-up circuit breaker to get some goodies. The title seems to hint that it's a good idea to get as much Green Herbs and materials as they can, and to keep their handy knife at the ready.

Previous clips also seem to offer some suggestions on how to survive the game. The "Recorder" clip teases that gamers should take the time to save as they'll "never know what will be lurking in the shadows." Meanwhile, the "Mysterious Caller" clip doesn't seem to offer any useful suggestions aside from reinforcing the belief that Ethan "really shouldn't have come here." But all the teasers are undeniably creepy.

"Resident Evil 7: Biohazard" is slated to be released on Jan. 24, 2017 on the PC and the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One consoles.
