"Resident Evil" is one of the much loved franchises in the gaming community and fans are excited about a new installment to the series.

According to a game industry insider, Dr. Serkan Toto of Kantan Games, the new installment, "Resident Evil 7," will be unveiled at the 2016 Electronic Entertainment Expo (E3). The sequel, which has yet to be officially titled, is reportedly in development.

As previously reported in Ecumenical News, Toto posted on Twitter that Capcom has already hired game designer Jordan Amaro for the project. Toto may have a good track record when it comes to his rumors but it's best to take it with a pinch of salt considering that Capcom hasn't said anything official about "Resident Evil 7" yet.

Despite the lack of updates from the game company, fans are starting to get excited considering that June is already here. If there's truth to this rumor, it is believed that Capcom might redeem itself since its recent "Resident Evil" installments were not that impressive, BitBag reports.

Toto included in his report that "Resident Evil 7" will return to its horror roots. Recent installments of the series were more focused on the action element of the game, leaving fans disappointed at the lack of the horror element.

Game producer Masachika Kawata might just consider fans' input when developing a new game and if that happens, it's likely that "Resident Evil 7" will be much scarier than the previous installments. "Moving forward I can see us focusing even more on the horror aspect and fear in the series, and see us making something scarier than we have already," he told Eurogamer.

E3 2016 is only weeks away and fans of the game franchise will soon find out if there will be a new and scarier "Resident Evil" game to be released soon.
