'Resident Evil 7' release date teased by Capcom: what to expect

(www.facebook.com/residentevil)"Resident Evil 7" could arrive this year.

While there has been no word about a new game in the "Resident Evil" franchise, the earnings report released by Capcom gave away a lot of information. Through the report, the company hinted that the next game in the franchise could be arriving this year.

The news about the next game in the franchise arrived through the Capcom earnings report and it went on to describe that the "Umbrella Corps" spin-off, which is due to release next month, is only going to be the tip of the iceberg. It further stated that this year would see a "full-scale offensive" in the latter half. Many industry analysts took this particular statement to mean that "Resident Evil 7" is indeed in the works.

Importantly, "Resident Evil 7" has been rumored for sometime now and so it is not suprising that news about the game is starting to trickle in. However, while the earnings report does seem to hint that "Umbrella Corps" is just going to be a "warm-up" before another game hits later in the year, there is no guarantee that it is going to be "Resident Evil 7." Meanwhile, others are pointing out that 2016 is the 20th anniversary of the game and any big news in the franchise could only mean that "Resident Evil 7" is going to be announced.

With the upcoming E3 2016 gaming conference right around the corner, there is a possibility that "Resident Evil 7" could be announced during the event. As soon as this reference to the offensive was picked up by the Internet, it was circulated widely and many were quick to point out that fans are going to very happy if "Resident Evil 7" is finally announced. However, most are hoping that Capcom manages to fix the issues that "Resident Evil 6" came with and bring out a truly impressive game to mark the 20th anniversary.
