'Rick and Morty' season 3 release date, spoilers: Adult Swim show may premiere in Q4 2016; Mr. Meeseeks set to return

("Rick and Morty" official Facebook page)Fan favorite Mr. Meeseeks is set to return in Rick and Morty's third installment.

Nerd up and strap your laboratory gowns as the third installment of Adult Swim's critically-reviewed animated science fiction sitcom is about to get released before the end of this year.

The third season's release date was previously projected for a 2017 premiere but International Business Times has reported that it is now going to be slated for a late 2016 launching. The shift of the schedule might be caused by some changes that are happening within the team which is behind the hit animated show.

Creators Dan Harmon and Justin Roiland have recently opined that the production of the third season was significantly more difficult compared to its earlier season. Harmon and Roiland were reportedly starting to work on the next episodes but out of sheer workmanship, they decided that some episodes did not their meet standards. As such, modifications were conducted to ensure a guaranteed viewers' satisfaction.

On the other end of the spectrum, loyal viewers are up for one of their biggest surprises as one of their fan favorites is expected to return for the upcoming season. Mr. Meeseeks, a little blue creature who first made his appearance during the first season, is rumored to turn up in the next episodes. Mr. Meeseeks may also be seen sporting a Dr. Seuss persona in one of these episodes.

Meanwhile, the talk of infusing an "interdimensional cable" storyline in the show still has remained undecided between its creators. Roiland via Slashfilm has shared that doing so would mean a toughened up production, which in itself, is difficult to accomplish. The same outlet has also teased that the show might be featuring a spoof of Star Trek: The Next Generation during its third installment.
