Director, Ridley Scott ,has been busy this year and sci-fi fans are loving it. The 77-year-old director has already wrapped up work on "The Martian" and is said to already be working on his next movie, which has been confirmed to be "Prometheus 2."

The "Alien" director let the news slip while talking to Empire about the much-anticipated Matt Damon flick, "The Martian." The star made a joke about how fast Scott works in the interview, something that the director agreed with.

"I was already on to my next movie!" Scott said in jest. "I was starting to look for locations for my next movie, which is 'Prometheus 2.'"

Many fans were admittedly disappointed with "Prometheus" while critics had a field day hammering the science behind the movie. Despite the negative impression, the movie actually made money, $400 million of it. However, it was not the success that the studio was aiming for so it was inevitable that the idea of a sequel became a 50/50 proposition.

But now the movie is good to go, with numerous reports stating that production of "Prometheus 2" is set to start on January 2016. Of course, fans are hoping that the sequel would finally give them the alien back story that they are hoping for or even another, better plot. It's been rumored that Scott had 15 drafts of potential scripts that he was eyeing. But recent reports state that "Transcendence's" Jack Paglen is already hard at work on the script.

Nothing is definite yet in the way of a plot but Scott had previously said it will most likely revolve around Dr. Elizabeth Shaw (Noomi Rapace) and David's (Michael Fassbender) quest to find God or the so-called Engineers, the beings that reportedly created humanity. Scott has also allegedly mentioned that "Prometheus 2" will do away with the xenomorphs and instead introduce a new type of alien.

Insiders are saying that "Prometheus 2" might be ready by 2017, which is still quite a ways away. But for those who need their Ridley Scott fix, "The Martian" is set to open on Oct. 2, 2015.
