Samsung's first full metal devices had come in the form of the Galaxy A3, Galaxy A5 and Galaxy A7 devices. There had been rumors that Samsung planned to continue with the A-series, as the company had filed a number of patents for the Galaxy A6, Galaxy A8 and Galaxy A9 in March. Similar to the three previous smartphones in the Galaxy A series (the Galaxy A3, the Galaxy A5, and the Galaxy A7), the Galaxy A8 is also speculated to come with an all-metal build. The dimensions of the Galaxy A8 appear to have been kept relatively constrained, with the device measuring 157.7 x 76.7 x 5.9mm, and weighing 140g. If these rumored specifications are indeed true, then the Galaxy A8 will be the thinnest smartphone to be ever made by Samsung.

According to rumored specifications, the Galaxy A8 will feature a 5.7-inch full HD Super AMOLED display with a resolution of 1920 by 1080 pixels. The Galaxy A8 is expected to be powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 615 chip, an upper mid-range SoC that includes four ARM Cortex-A53 CPU cores clocked at 1.7GHz, four additional ARM Cortex-A53 cores clocked at 1.0GHz, and an Adreno 405 GPU. The device is speculated to come with 2GB of RAM with 16GB of integrated storage spa, and will draw power from a beefy 3,050 mAh lithium-ion battery. The upcoming full metal smartphone is rumored to feature a 16MP primary sensor and a 5MP front-facing camera. The Samsung Galaxy A8 will run Android 5.0.1 Lollipop and will reportedly be available only in China.

But according to latest reports, the Samsung Galaxy A8 will get a much wider release and apart from China, the stylish metal-edged smartphone will also go on sale in other parts of Asia and Europe. The fresh reports further claim that the Samsung Galaxy A8 will borrow one of the Galaxy S6's key features, the touch-based fingerprint sensor. There are no pricing details or release date available for the Samsung Galaxy A8, as of now. So stay tuned for the latest news and rumors on Samsung's upcoming smartphone.
