Samsung Electronics is expected to launch another flagship smartphone in Asia, Samsung Galaxy Golden 2, but has so far not given a specific release date. The recent leaks suggest decent specs for the successor of the original Galaxy Golden handset.

According to GSM Arena, the Samsung Galaxy Golden 2 specs features a 3.9-inch AMOLED display, 1280 x 768 pixels screen resolution, 16 MP rear-facing camera, 3.7 MP front-facing camera, 2 GB of RAM memory and Qualcomm Snapdragon 801 chipset.

The new flagship smartphone will run Android 4.4.4 KitKat and weighs around 173 grams.

There is no confirmation yet as to when Samsung will unwrap the Galaxy Golden 2, but rumor mills suggest that the handset will not have a release date outside of Asia.

There are several new smartphones coming from Samsung's turf at the moment, including Samsung Galaxy Edge and Galaxy Note 4, which has just been released in the UK and reviews are fairly positive.

Wall Street Journal Joanna Stern thinks that the phablet pioneer Samsung still got game.

"Yet no other phone maker can deliver such a clear vision of why the future will be written on these smartphone-tablet hybrids. It may not meet my high aesthetic standards, software-wise, but multitasking on that big, beautiful display makes the Note feel more productive and powerful than any other phablet out there. Even the iPhone 6 Plus. This is the best phone I have seen from Samsung in a long time—maybe ever," she said.

There has been a plethora of reports indicating Samsung's ailing situation in the mobile realm.

While the South Korean company remains the largest smartphone maker in the world, they are facing an annual profit fall after weak third-quarter earnings.

"Considering the operating profit guidance, it looks like the company dealt with unsold inventory issues during the third quarter," Alpha Asset Management fund manager Hong Jeong-woong said, adding, "I think Samsung's earnings are at a turning point."
