Users of the previous models in the Galaxy S series in the US are thrilled to know that they will soon be receiving the latest Android operating system (OS) update. In fact, some users of the Samsung Galaxy series smartphones are already enjoying the latest Android 5.0 Lollipop update, depending upon their carrier and region.

Lollipop was initially made available in the Samsung Galaxy S5 for Verizon subscribers in February, followed by T-Mobile later during the same month. Now Sprint and AT&T have also assured users of the Galaxy S series smartphones that the new Android OS will be coming soon on their handsets.

The Samsung Galaxy S4 is already running on the latest Android OS in other countries such as Poland, India and Russia. The Lollipop update is now gradually being made available on the Galaxy S series smartphones in other parts of Europe and Asia. Users of Samsung Galaxy S4 in the US are also certain to receive the latest Android 5.0 Lollipop update, as T-Mobile's line of devices that are set to receive the new Android OS now includes Samsung handsets.

The Galaxy Note 3, 4, and Edge will also receive the new Android OS update, with the Galaxy Note 3 likely to receive the update ahead of the current Note 4 and Note Edge. However, there is still no news about the Samsung Galaxy S3 receiving the Android OS update, as the model is three years old and older smartphones are not usually eligible for such updates. Similarly, the Galaxy Note 2 is also unlikely to receive the update as it is also an older model.
