'Samsung Galaxy Note 5' release date: Samsung may replace Qualcomm with own Exynos processors after overheating issues

The Samsung Galaxy S6 smart phone series will be undergoing a sizable change as they switch from the Qualcomm processors to their own Exynos processor design. According to a report by the Digi Times, one of the reasons for the switch is the overheating issues from the Qualcomm Snapdragon 810 processor. With the current smart phone market being very competitive, Samsung is shoring up any perceived weak spots so as not to lose any ground in the battle for market dominance.

It is unclear for now if Samsung will also make the processor shift with their Samsung Galaxy Note 5, a device which is currently in development and has not yet been given an exact release date. Still, Qualcomm is believed to be trying to secure itself as Samsung's processor supplier of choice after a much needed fix with the faulty processor units were implemented.

It was previously rumored that Samsung would come out with two versions of the Galaxy S6, with one version sporting the new Exynos processors while another version would still contain Qualcomm processors. That rumor turned out to be false but may now be applicable to the upcoming Galaxy Note 5.

Regardless of the processor, the Galaxy Note 5 is shaping up to be an excellent device, if its rumored technical spec improvements turn out to be true. For one thing, the Note 5 is expected to have the latest 4K display as an upgrade over its predecessors quad HD display. Other areas for improvement include the camera and the battery life. As reported in this report at Value Walk, the main camera is theorized to be 21 megapixels while the front facing lens a 5 megapixel one.

No specific retail prices have been set for the Galaxy Note 5, but predictions peg the value at around the $900-$1000 range.
