Samsung Galaxy S8 release date, specs rumors: Leaks reveal Galaxy S8 with 3.5-mm headphone jack, no home button

Despite Samsung's terrible 2016, with the Galaxy Note 7 fiasco, the tech industry is paying close attention to the South Korean tech giant's next move. Although mobile users are still unsure of the Galaxy Note series, the Galaxy S series has some high expectations.

(Samsung)Samsung Galaxy S7's successor may come without its traditional home button based on recent leaks.

For months now, there have been varying rumors, unconfirmed ones at that, circulating the internet. Although Samsung has kept mum about the Galaxy S8's specs, a new leak suggests that the installment will be keeping the standard 3.5-mm headphone jack.

Apple's skyrocketing sales have made the company a trendsetter. Last year, the company made a bold statement by launching a smartphone without the conventional 3.5-mm headphone jack. Along with its removal, the tech giant introduced new wireless earphones. The latest tech might be appealing to some, but it seems like Samsung has no intention of following suit.

It is to be noted that Samsung still has not commented on the alleged Galaxy S8 leak; hence, the tech giant could launch a device without the standard headphone jack. Also, previous reports about the device claim that it will be following Apple's footsteps.

According to sources, another feature from the facade will be removed. This will be the home button. An alleged leak of the prototype images of the Galaxy S8 shows no signs of the button. In addition, the device will be sporting rear cameras with LED flash and heart rate sensor cutouts. An under-glass fingerprint scanner will be introduced. And like most recent reports, the publications believe that the headphone jack will still be intact, but a USB Type-C port will be added. Aside from data transfers, the port will enable fast charging.

Samsung has yet to comment on the recent speculations. Watch out for official announcements from the tech giant.
