San Antonio Spurs trade rumors 2016: LaMarcus Aldridge leaving soon?

A parting of ways could happen in the 2016-17 National Basketball Association (NBA) season as the San Antonio Spurs might dispose of All-Star big man LaMarcus Aldridge.

This was recently discussed by ESPN's Jackie MacMullan on CSNNE.com's Early Edition.

Meanwhile, the San Antonio Express-News mentioned in its report that when the Spurs were trying to sign Aldridge last year, one of their pitches was he will be the "center of their offense." But this failed to materialize with Kawhi Leonard continuously flourishing.

Aldridge's arrival in San Antonio was last year's blockbuster free agency move. The expectations were massive for the Spurs after signing the 31-year-old and among those was for them to win it all.

The Spurs finished the 2015-16 regular season with a 67-15 record for the second spot in the Western Conference. Unfortunately, they exited in the second round of the playoffs after losing in six games to the Oklahoma City Thunder.

Because of an unsuccessful title bid, Aldridge could now be an expendable. It is believed that he is having the same issues he had with the Portland Trail Blazers.

When Aldridge left the Blazers, one of the reasons why he did this was Damian Lillard's emergence as the face of the franchise. With the Spurs, it is happening all over again with Leonard taking over.

If this is true, it means Aldridge wants to be with an organization that will make him its main star. That is difficult to achieve in San Antonio since as mentioned, Leonard is just ascending with his game. The 25-year-old is viewed as the present and future of the franchise.

So far, Aldridge nor the Spurs are leaving a comment regarding the speculation. But when the season rolls, the situation will be clearer and the plans of the team are set to unfold.
