Fans of the movie-turned-tv-show "Scream" are delighted to hear that their show is renewed for another season. Viewers might have to wait a little longer, though, to get their fix on what will happen with the surviving characters on the show.

According to the Vine Report, Executive Vice President of series development and head of scripted programming Mina Lefevre, said that viewers tuning into the new show have easily been increasing over time.

While on a press tour for the Television Critics Association, she said, "It has been a wonderful experience working with Bob Weinstein and his team, who are such connoisseurs of this genre and we are thrilled by how our viewers have responded to the reinvention of 'Scream. We look forward to another season filled with suspense, horror and more twists and turns."

The show just ended its first season last Tuesday, and fans have been clamoring for more answers as the show finally revealed that the masked killer is Emma's long-lost sister, Piper. According to IB times, Piper's possible motive is to get back at Maggie for leaving her and to punish Emma for having the life she has always wanted.

Bex-Taylor Klaus recently sat down with She Knows and shared that the show will be sticking to the same story. "It's gonna have the same cast, the same characters — or whoever's alive at the end of the season — going into the next season. There's definitely more to the story," she said.

Deadline has recently reported that the show has already garnered 7.9 million downloads across the globe with 1.5 million fans watching live. There is also a 60 percent increase of viewership from week to week.

There is no word yet on when the new season will be premiering. However, it is believed that MTV will have the next season ready to premiere by 2016.
