'Sense8' season 2 spoilers: Co-creator o take a break next season

(Sense8 / Facebook)"Sense8" season 2 cast. The sci-fi drama returns around Christmas this year.

"Sense8" season 2, which will be seen exclusively on the streaming platform Netflix, is expected to premiere around Christmas this year. However, the sci-fi drama will be returning without its co-creator Lilly Wachowski.

Lilly is confirmed to have stepped down from producing and directing the next season of "Sense8." Her sister and co-creator, Lana, will entirely take over.

"Lilly needed to take some time off," series star Jamie Clayton told BuzzFeed News. "Lana is absolutely a superwoman. The way she channels her energy and her creativity ... it keeps me in absolute awe whenever I'm in her presence. She's an absolute force."

Just last month, actor Aml Ameen left the show even though the season already started filming a couple of episodes. The reason behind Ameen's exit is his rift with Lana over creative differences. After the British actor's departure, newcomer Toby Onwumere filled in for the role Capheus.

In season 2, Will Gorski is described by actor Brian J. Smith to be in a "fugue state." Will has to hide from Whispers and hunt him at the same time. The actor adds, "A lot of Season 2 is this really interesting chess match between the two of them that takes some really surprising turns."

As for Riley Blue, actress Tuppence Middleton revealed that her character's relationship with Will has reversed. She will now be the rescuer of Will. In order to do so, she has to put her practical mind to work.

Actor Max Riemelt, on the other hand, revealed that his character Wolfgang Bogdanow will be hunted down by new dark characters. He will realize that he needs to find purpose in living in Berlin. "There is this new landscape that he has to find his new position within. There are new power games taking place," he explained.

Netflix has not announced the specific premiere date of "Sense8" season 2. However, Clayton revealed that the first episode will most likely come out around Christmas 2016. It will also feature Christmas in it.
