The second season of "Sense8" will bring its audiences around the globe as the sensates discover more about themselves, each other, and the mystery that brings them together. The filming has been to Mumbai, Italy, and most recently in Mexico. According to reports their next stop is in Germany.

Show creator J. Michael Straczynski recently spoke with Gold Derby regarding the inspiration of the series. He said, "At a time when politics and culture seem to be dividing us … a show talking about the fact that we are better together than we are apart, that we are strengthened and not diminished by a multitude of voices, might be a good message to pass along … Hopefully with time, as we become more and more one world, the empathy will extend beyond national borders."

He also shared that he has known co-writers Lana and Lilly Wachowski for many years and that they all think that as species, "we are better together than we are apart."

That is what "Sense8" is about. It is a story revolving around eight strangers form different parts of the world sharing their senses. Aside from similar dates of birth, there is nothing similar to the eight characters. In season 1, they discover that they could tap each other's abilities aside from feeling the emotions one is going through. Season 1's main villain was actor Terrence Mann, who played Whispers. Whispers is a sensate himself and he is out to eliminate all the other one of his kind. He will continue to hunt them in the second season, while revealing the bigger picture behind his motivation.

In an interview with BuzzFeed, actor Max Riemelt, who plays one of the sensates, said that season 2 will be pushing the boundaries. He said, "There's more sex, more violence, more of everything!" In season 1 the characters were barely seen in one location but they got together in the last episode.

They will be together more often in the second season and, as they get physically stronger, their emotional bonds get stronger as well.

"Sense8" season 2 is expected to air mid-year in 2017.
