After it is believed that the upcoming season 8 of "Shameless" will feature Lip (Jeremy Allen White) finally getting into a relationship with Sierra (Ruby Modine), fans can only wonder if Fiona (Emmy Rossum) will, likewise, have a new love life in the latest installment of the Showtime series.

After staying away from relationships in "Shameless" season 7, fans can only wonder if Fiona will finally meet a man who will not only respect her but she can respect, too, in the upcoming season 8 of the Showtime series. After all, prior to season 7, Fiona's love department never experienced a drought.

However, since the character broke up with her fiancé Sean (Dermot Mulroney), she has never had a stable relationship. While it is true that she had an affair with Ryan (Barry Sloane), the relationship did not last.

Avid fans of "Shameless" opine that, while it is good to portray Fiona as an independent woman who can go on with life without a man beside her, it will be better if the series provides her a partner whom she can respect. After all, the very reason why Fiona is now the woman that she has become is because of her damaging parents: In her attempt to look for a different kind of love that her father, Frank (William H. Macy), has failed to give her, she ended up attracting different versions of him in her life.

If the latest reports are to be believed, though, it seems that Fiona's love life will still take a backseat in "Shameless" season 8 as it is alleged that she will be busy with her real estate venture. Does this mean that the character will still not get into a serious relationship in "Shameless" season 8?

Fans can only hope for the opposite.

While it remains unclear if "Shameless" will usher in a new character who will make Fiona's love life colorful again, it is almost certain that the series' upcoming season will feature Lip and Sierra finally becoming an official couple. TV Line opines that Lips' reaction when Sierra caresses his face in its season 7 finale bodes well of a budding romance between the two characters. 

Showtime has yet to announce the release date of "Shameless" season 8.
