'Sims 4' expansion pack release date: players can pick their work features with 'Get to Work'

Fans of the hugely popular simulation game 'Sims 4' are in for a treat as EA Games is scheduled to release the first expansion pack for the series "Get to Work" sometime next month. As can be surmised from the title, the expansion's content will revolve primarily on building the career of individual Sims. Players can choose from three distinct career paths as a doctor, detective, or scientist.

While previous games in the Sims franchise have their own version of work-related features, "Get to Work" is unique in that players will finally be able to follow their Sims as they go to work and control each of their actions. For example, Sims on the detective career path will be able to investigate crime scenes and solve cases, and in the process work towards being promoted to a higher position.

In addition to the aforementioned career paths, players can also choose to become an entrepreneur of sorts by starting their own retail business. Sims can build bakeries, bookstores, or clothing boutiques and sell pre-created items or customized items created by the players themselves. There is also an option to hire employees to create a more vibrant store atmosphere for each business.

"Get to Work" also introduces two new skills, Photography and Baking. These skills will no doubt be handy with the new retail store feature but should also be fun to use on an everyday basis within the basic gameplay.

Finally, the Create-a-Sim mode has been updated such that players will be able to create alien characters in the game. This also means that certain Sims in the neighborhood can potentially be aliens themselves from the mysterious Alien dimension within the game.

"Get to Work" is slated for release on April 2015. It requires the 'Sims 4' game, which is sold separately, and all pre-existing updates to be installed.
