'Sister Wives' season 8 air date, rumors: Will polygamous family's recent move be enough for show's renewal?

(Facebook/Sister Wives)Will the Browns' efforts in hopefully pushing Utah to legalize polygamy be enough to get "Sister Wives" a renewal for season eight?

TLC has not yet announced the renewal for "Sister Wives" for its eighth season run and unfortunately, there are numerous rumors about the reality show's alleged cancellation.

On the other hand, the Brown family, stars of "Sister Wives," recently made a move which has gained the attention of many. Kody Brown and his four wives called on the United States Supreme Court to listen to their sentiments regarding polygamy's legalization.

Utah has a polygamy law that bans polygamists to cohabit with other partners even if the patriarch is legally bound to one woman. In the case of Kody and his four wives, he is only married to Robyn at the moment, after Meri, his first wife, decided to divorce him so the two could wed.

Kody calls his other wives, Janelle and Christine, including Meri, his "spiritual wives" and the entire family has now moved from Lehi, Utah to Las Vegas, purportedly due to Utah's polygamy law.

According to Yahoo News, Jonathan Turley, the family's attorney, said in a statement that the Brown family's most recent move is seeking to give hope to other polygamists regarding their religious freedom. "Utah is a state that was founded by courageous citizens seeking these very protections from government abuse and religious inequality. This lawsuit is true to the original dream of those seeking freedom in Utah," Turley said.

Meanwhile, there's still no news from TLC regarding the premiere of "Sister Wives" season eight. However, with the latest path that the Brown family has decided to tread on, it seems there's hope for new episodes to come into fruition. This will happen though if the Browns get enough people to notice their efforts for the freedom of polygamists.

Given that the lawsuit gains enough attention from fans, critics, and advocates for polygamy, there is a chance that the network will decide to give "Sister Wives" season eight a green light, especially if production and the Browns agree on depicting their battle with the law on television.
