'Skyrim Special Edition' news: Xbox One mods continue to significantly outnumber PS4 mods

(Bethesda)More mods currently available for Xbox One port of 'Skyrim Special Edition' compared to PS4

Mods are among the many key features of the new game named "Skyrim Special Edition," and as of now at least, more of them are currently available for the Xbox One rather than the PS4.

As of writing, 91 mods have already been made for the Xbox One port of the new title, while PS4 players can expect to have access to 23.

The possible reasons why the Xbox One mods greatly outnumber the PS4 mods as much as they do right now remain unknown, though the differing capabilities of the additional features may be playing a role.

As Bethesda announced recently, PS4 players will not be able to utilize external assets for the mods that they will be designing for "Skyrim Special Edition," while Xbox players face no such restriction.

Being unable to make use of external assets means that PS4 players will only be able to create mods that utilize the items already inside the game.

As IGN pointed out, the fact that Xbox One mods can be significantly larger than the ones available for the PS4 may also be factoring in to the currently existing gap.

Bethesda also offered another reason for why such a big gap may be currently present, sharing with IGN that the Creation Kit beta went live first for the Xbox One port of the new game.

Apart from the aforementioned mods, the new version of "Skyrim" also provides players with a game that features significantly improved graphics, enabling players to see the lively, dragon-filled world in even greater detail.

The original "Skyrim's" add-ons – "Dawnguard," "Dragonborn" and "Hearthfire" – will also be bundled together with the remastered game, providing players with more things that they can take on after they complete the main storyline and faction-specific quests.

More news about "Skyrim Special Edition" should be made available in the near future.
