'Sons of Anarchy' prequel news: Estimated premiere date and speculations on Charlie Hunnam's return

(Facebook/Sons of Anarchy)"Mayans MC" is the working title for the prequel to "Sons of Anarchy," which is expected to air next year.

The prequel to the "Sons of Anarchy" has long been anticipated, but no premiere date has been announced yet. Meanwhile, rumors about actor Charlie Hunnam's involvement continue to make the rounds.

Many details about the upcoming show have already been revealed. Production has not even started yet, but preparations are already underway. Speculations are rife, however, that the prequel that is said to focus on the Mayans Motorcycle Club will be shown by fall next year.

The involvement of Hunnam has long been a subject of debate. As the main character of the parent series, many are hoping that he would make an appearance on the show. Over a month ago, creator Kurt Sutter posted a photo of actor Emilio Rivera as his character Marcus Alvarez on Instagram. It was accompanied by the caption, "Working hard on some sweet surprises. #MayansMC."

The post kept fans hopeful that one of the surprises would be the return of Jax Teller, which Hunnam portrayed. However, the actor himself had dismissed the rumors saying, "I do believe it is happening, but I don't think I'm a part of it, because I wasn't born when that was happening."

While details have been scarce, it has been revealed that Sutter is working on the series with Elgin James, who will be writing the script as well. It also appears that the prequel will have a Latin theme as Sutter himself shared the reason why he chose James to work with him.

He said, "I wanted to find a strong, unique Latino voice because I didn't think a white guy from Jersey should be writing about Latin culture and traditions. Elgin is that voice."

The working title for the prequel is "Mayans MC." More details about the prequel show should be revealed soon.
