Forget about a "Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain" PS4 as Sony has plans to bring out a special  "Sony Xperia J1 Compact: The Phantom Pain Edition" to commemorate the release of the game. The announcement of the phone's availability was first made in Japan, though it was not revealed whether it would also be released in other countries.

The phone's reveal was first announced on the Japanese PlayStation Blog. Other devices announced along with the phone were the Xperia Z4 tablet and a Xperia Z4 Tablet compact, all of which are inspired by the game. In addition, Sony also revealed two different Walkman devices, the NW-ZX2 and the NW-A16, which would also be Phantom Pain-themed.

However, it was the reveal of the Xperia J1 Compact variant which immediately gained the attention of fans of the game and tech enthusiasts alike. Sony released a few details about the phone and revealed that it would have the same hardware found in the Xperia J1 Compact. The back panel of the device will have the "Outer Heaven" logo, which has long been associated with the game. As for the color scheme, only one model, that comes in white was seen, but there could be other colors available when the phone is finally released.

As for the hardware, it reportedly will be the same specs found in the original Xperia J1 Compact. That particular device came with a 4.3-inch display, 20.7 megapixel rear camera and a 2,300 mAH battery. As for its chipset, it will be a Qualcomm Snapdragon 800 version and there will be 2 GB of RAM on board.

The customized wallpapers and ringtones available on the phone will be of most interest to potential buyers. Along with it, they will also get a ¥1,000 voucher to buy the comics associated with the gaming franchise.

Finally, GSM Arena stated that with this special edition phone, Sony is undoubtedly catering to the fans of the game who are eagerly awaiting its arrival, as it will mark the end of Hideo Kojima's connection with the iconic franchise.
