Japanese smartphone manufacturer Sony has seen the sales of its smartphones slump over the years. However, it is clear that the company has no plans to stop creating new devices and the Sony Xperia XA Ultra is its most recent offering.

As soon as Sony made the phone official, many websites were labeling it as a follow-up to the Xperia C5 Ultra. GSMArena also stated that the big smartphone will be a hit with people who like phablet-sized devices. Coming to the standout features of the Xperia XA Ultra, it includes a 6-inch display with a resolution of 1080p and a density of 367ppi. This big size does not mean that the device is a flagship and in fact the hardware points towards it being a mid-range device. More importantly, the chipset is a Mediatek Helio P10 version and it is coupled with an octa-core CPU clocked at 2.0 GHz and a Mali-T860MP2 GPU.

Also, the display of the Xperia XA Ultra does not have much of a border on its left and right sides but large bezels are present on the top and the bottom. Another standout feature of the device is its 21.5 megapixel camera at its rear with hybrid autofocus and a huge 16 megapixel camera with OIS in front for selfies. These two cameras are guaranteed to make this phablet an attractive offering for those interested in taking high quality photos and selfies and it is likely that Sony is going to highlight them in the marketing of the device.

There is also a 2,700mAh battery on the device and Sony states that it will be able to last for two days. However, there is no fingerprint scanner onboard.

Coming to price, Sony has not provided any details.

It is clear though that Sony is going to have a lot of competition from other companies who are also bringing out big phablets, and one such device is the Mi Max with a 6.44 inch screen which released recently from Xiaomi.
