Sony's flagship smartphone, Xperia Z2 has reached the US soil and is being sold for a discounted price of $699.99.

Selling for $50 off in Sony's US-based online store, the smartphone has been penetrating global markets - particularly that of Singapore, Australia and Kingdom.

Dubbed as the most powerful smartphone in Sony's turf, the device is brimming with functionality and potential that even after 2 years, an owner will still find it relevant.

According to its official press release, Xperia Z2 is:

"Sony's best ever premium waterproof smartphone combining its best display, sound, camera and camcorder experience as well as an exclusive entertainment offer and a growing ecosystem of companion products."

Sony Xperia Z2 weighs 163 grams primarily due to the preponderance of glass and metal design.

It features the following specifications: 5.2-inch Full HD TRILUMINOS display with Live Colour LED powered by X-Reality for mobile picture engine, 1920 x 1080 pixels, 20.7MP camera, 2.5GHz quad-core Krait CPU with 3GB of RAM and Snapdragon 801 chipset.

With its tagline "Only the best of Sony brings you closer to the real experience", Xperia Z2's strength lies on its camera and sensor that is 30% larger than standard smartphones.

The device can capture four times sharper than full HD, thanks to its 4K video feature.

It also sports stereo speakers and digital noise cancelling technology that provides immersive audio experience that even inside a train full of commuters, a user can clearly and loudly hear music playing.

The IP55 and IP58 rating given to Xperia Z2 means that it can be submerged in water (waterproof) and take a pounding in a dust-filled environment (dustproof) and still work.

It is available in black, white and purple.

Sony Xperia Z2 was initially introduced at the Mobile World Congress held in Barcelona, Spain in February.
