Previously, data on a Chinese blog had shown that the Japanese electronics giant was working on the Xperia Z4 Compact (D5800 series). A couple of months ago, a yet-to-be-announced smartphone from Sony had showed up at the Indonesian regulatory site Postel, with the Sony E5803 model number corresponding with the successor of the Z3 Compact D5803, suggesting that it was the Xperia Z4 Compact. The Sony Xperia Z4 Compact was later spotted in a leaked accessory catalog for the spring/summer portfolio of NTT DoCoMo in Japan. In spite of all this, no technical details were available about Xperia Z4 Compact, but the device has now been spotted on the two benchmarking sites GFXBench and GeekBench bearing the model number E5663, revealing its key specifications.

According to the leaked specifications, the Xperia Z4 Compact will feature a 4.6-inch 1080p Full HD display, marking an improvement over the 720p display in its predecessor, the Xperia Z3 Compact. The Sony Xperia Z4 Compact will be powered by an octa-core 64-bit MediaTek MT6795 chipset clocked at 1.9GHz, paired with 3GB of RAM and 16GB of internal storage. Sony's upcoming smartphone will sport a 20MP rear camera and a 13MP front facing shooter, and will ship with Android Lollipop out of the box.

Based on the model number, it is being speculated that the Xperia Z4 Compact is most likely headed for the Indian market, due to the number 63 at the end. The Xperia M4 Aqua and Xperia C4 Dual with model numbers E2363 and E5363, respectively were both launched in India and the E5663 had also recently surfaced on the Indian import database Zauba. There are no details about the pricing options and availability of the Xperia Z4 Compact, but Sony should be coming out with an official announcement soon.
