Sony Xperia Z4v gamer-focused smartphone arrives in the U.S. exclusively on Verizon

After quietly announcing its latest flagship smartphone Xperia Z4 in Japan back in April, Sony has now unveiled its next version, the Xperia Z4v, exclusive to Verizon in the U.S. that will allow users to stream and remotely play PlayStation 4 games.

The Sony Xperia Z4v will arrive on Verizon Wireless later this summer and will have essentially the same features as the Z4, though the handset is thicker, heavier, and a bit technically superior. According to the specifications provided by Sony, the Xperia Z4v features a 5.2-inch Quad HD display with 2,560 x 1,440 pixels, as against a 5.2-inch full-HD display with a 1,920x1,080-pixel resolution in the Xperia Z4. Similar to the Xperia Z4, the Sony Xperia Z4v is powered by the same Qualcomm's 64-bit octacore Snapdragon 810 processor paired with 3GB of RAM, and has the same 20.7-megapixels rear-facing camera, as well as a 5-megapixel front-facing camera with wide-angle lens.

The Xperia Z4v also comes with 32GB of internal storage, which can be expanded up to 128GB via a microSD slot, but packs a bigger 3,000 mAh battery, as compared to a 2,930mAh battery in the Xperia Z4, and runs Android 5.0 Lollipop out of the box. Similar to the Xperia Z4, the Sony Xperia Z4v comes with an IP6X dustproof rating, and is certified IPX5 and IPX8, making it splash-resistant and indicating its ability to survive even after being submerged in water for a long period.

The Xperia Z4v supports PS4 Remote Play, which allows PlayStation 4 owners to stream games from their console to the handset when they are on the same Wi-Fi network. The Z4v will be available in black and white models, and though no pricing details have been announced, the device is expected to sell for $199 with contract.
