According to earlier rumors, Sony plans to launch the Xperia Z5, along with the Xperia Z5 Ultra and the Xperia Z5 Compact smartphones in Q4 2015. The Xperia Z5 and the Xperia Z5 Ultra are believed to be powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 820 chipset, while details of the Xperia Z5 Compact are unavailable. The Sony Xperia Z5 Ultra will reportedly ditch the flagship standard fingerprint scanning feature and instead use Qualcomm's Ultrasonic Sense ID, making it the first smartphone in the Xperia series to feature the technology. The Xperia Z5 and Xperia Z5 Ultra will reportedly feature a Quad HD display for all regions. The Xperia Z5 will come with a 2K screen, 4 GB of RAM, a brand new camera sensor and software, thoughit is unlikely to feature OIS (optical image stabilization). Sony has been using the Omni-Balance design for its flagship devices for nearly five generations now, but this time, the Japanese company will reportedly opt for a new design language for its Xperia Z5.

This has also been confirmed by the latest Sony Xperia Z5 leak, which reveals a blurry picture of the device and details the flagship's camera powers. According to the post accompanying the image, the Sony Xperia Z5 will flaunt a "new Camera/sensor/lens/software", along with a new design/identity. Another picture posted on the Chinese social media website Weibo, also claims to be of the real Sony Xperia Z5 with a metallic back and a rear camera in the top left position. Interestingly, the post accompanying the image on Weibo refers to Type-C, which could indicate that the Sony Xperia Z5 will arrive with a USB Type-C port.

Sony is rumored to launch the Xperia Z5 in Q4 2015, though some reports have suggested that the launch could be postponed to January 2016 if the upcoming Snapdragon 820 chipset is not available in time for the release of the Z5-series.
