Sony will be adding another member to its Xperia Z family.

The company is reportedly releasing its new smartphone, the Xperia Z5, in September. Several websites have also reported that Sony has plans to release other Xperia phones as well in a bid to go head to head with its competitors. The company is said to be eyeing devices that can go up against the Moto X 2015 and the Nexus 5 2015.

The Xperia Z5 is touted to be Sony's flagship device, which is why it will probably be announced during the IFA 2015 event which will be held in Berlin this September.

The last Xperia phone that was released, the Z3 , was quite a disappointment in terms of features and upgrades. So the company is making sure that the next generation of Xperia phones comes with a better design and impressive hardware.

Sony has not released any specific information about the Xperia Z5 yet but reports say the new handset will still have a metal and glass OmniBalance design. It will also be dust and water resistant and will probably be slimmer than its predecessor.

The Xperia Z5 is also touted to be packing a Snapdragon 820 processor, 4Gb of RAM, a 4,500 mAh battery capacity and in all likelihood will run on the Android M. The Xperia Z5 is expected to carry Sony's latest 21MP Exmor RS IMX230 CMOS sensor which has face detection, geo tagging, panorama mode shooting and touch focus features. Its rear camera is allegedly capable of recording 2160p videos at 30 frames per second, 1080p at 60 fps and 720fps at 120 fps. The front camera will be able to record 1080p HD video at 30 fps. It will also have 4K video recording and HDR recording capacities as well.

But one feature that will undoubtedly get people excited about the Xperia Z5 is its rumored Qualcomm Sense ID fingerprint scanner. If this particular rumor turns out to be true, the Z5 will be the first Sony device to have such a feature.

No official price has been given the Xperia Z5 either, but reports peg it to be in the $700 to $800 range.
