Sony Xperia Z5 rumors: camera's focus will benefit from new technology

(Reuters)

With Sony failing to bring a substantially improved flagship handset to the market this year, expectations are high that the company will be announcing the arrival of the Xperia Z5 flagship at IFA on Sept. 2. Additionally, social media accounts belonging to the company have been teasing the arrival of a smartphone with better focusing capabilities.

News of the new Xperia smartphone surfaced via the Twitter account belonging to Sony Xperia GB, which posted a blurry photo of the device. The photo shows the device taking a photo of a street and even though it was blurred to protect the identity of the device, it was clear that it was smartphone.

Also, the caption that the photo on Twitter came along with, indicated that the smartphone with "greater focus" would arrive on Sept. 2 of this year. GSMArena, taking the photo into account, stated that a new hybrid autofocus technology could find its way to the upcoming Xperia Z5.

The mid-range Xperia M5, which was recently released along with the Xperia C5, ultra came with the phase detection autofocus combined with contrast autofocus and these are a few features which many expect will also be included in the flagship Xperia Z5.

This new autofocus system could allow the camera on the Xperia Z5 to take photos within a second and it is expected to come with better sensors and a faster shutter. As for the Xperia Z5 Compact, it has been featured in a number of leaks and it most recently surfaced in a promo image.

Interest in the upcoming smartphones from Sony is high, as the Xperia Z3 , which was released earlier this year, did not come with any substantial improvements. In fact, it only came with the latest Snapdragon 810 chipset. As for the other major new feature, in the device, there are rumors that a fingerprint sensor will be included and it will be positioned at the side, possibly incorporated into the power button.

However, as of now, Sony has not officially stated that it will unveil the Xperia Z5, as well as the rumored smaller Z5 Compact on Sept. 2, therefore, all rumors about the devices remain speculations and assumptions for now.
