Trekkies have been eagerly awaiting for any news or spoilers regarding "Star Trek Beyond" or "Star Trek 3." Unfortunately, cast and crew members are not divulging any details meaning that the film's plot and other details remain shrouded in mystery.

However, actor Simon Pegg, who will appear in the movie as Scotty and has penned the script with writer ,Doug Jung, did share some details of actor Idris Elba's character. He told MTV that Elba's character is cool and "it's a really interesting, complex character."

Pegg also said that Elba's character has different motivations and should not be compared to the franchise's earlier antagonists such as Benedict Cumberbatch's Kahn. "What we don't want to do is have the same kind of villain with the same motivation," the actor added.

The writer and actor also denied rumors that "Spectre" star, Daniel Craig, would be making a cameo in "Star Trek Beyond" as a storm trooper. Pegg will also be seen in another highly anticipated sci-fi movie, "Star Wars VII: The Force Awakens."

Meanwhile, British actor, Idris Elba, also spoke to TV3 about how excited he is to star in the famous sci-fi series. Growing up, the handsome actor was an avid "Star Trek" fan, also known as a Trekkie.

"Almost everyone was a Trekkie, really, weren't they? I wouldn't say I was a hardcore one but I definitely watched that show a million times," he said. The actor is particularly excited to star alongside Spock, who is his favorite character. "Spock was probably my favorite character - and in this one, I have some scenes with Zachary Quinto (who plays Spock)," he added.

Elba is rumored to be playing Klingon. Filming has already begun for "Star Trek Beyond" in Vancouver, Canada. Apart from Elba and Pegg, Chris Pine reprises his role as Captain Kirk, Zachary Quinto plays Spock, Karl Urban is Bones and Zoe Saldana plays Uhura.

"Star Trek Beyond" gets released on July 8, 2016.
