'Star Wars Battlefront: Death Star' finally announced; set for a December release

(Star Wars)The "Deathstar" DLC will be out by September and will feature Chewbacca as a playable character.

At the recently concluded Star Wars Celebration, an event held in London over the weekend, fans of the movie franchise were given juicy information on what's happening with their favorite film series. Game developer EA DICE was also present at the event and announced the latest downloadable content for "Star Wars Battlefront" which is called "Death Star."

DICE's design director Niklas Fegreaus made the announcement during the event and added that the expansion will be out this September. He also mentioned an upcoming update, which is "Rogue One: Scarif," that is set for a December release.

In fact, Electronic Arts (EA) has also released the expansion's teaser trailer that has a 50-second run and features, of course, the Empire's ultimate weapon. Moreover, the title's website showcased some of the DLC's latest additions to the game, which include the two new playable characters in the expansion, namely the Trandoshan named Bossk, a bounty hunter who most people are afraid of; and the legendary Wookie named Chewbacca. Moreover, since the latter was already added to the game, avid fans would love to see him in battle alongside his equally legendary partner, Han Solo.

New maps were also added, which paves the way for intense dogfights in space and inside the Deathstar, scenarios which are somewhat taken from the epic fifth episode of the film series, "The Empire Strikes Back."

Aside from these, the new game segment will also feature new weapons, spacecrafts and Star Cards at the player's disposal.

As earlier reported, the much-awaited update, "Rogue One: Scarif" is scheduled to be released during the Holidays just in time for the premiere of the new "Star Wars" film, "Rogue One: A Star Wars Story."

Fans, on the other hand, may check the latest news and updates about the current DLC on the game's website.
