Electronic Arts, the publisher of the highly anticipated, first/third-person shooter game "Star Wars: Battlefront," recently shared the news that the coming beta, scheduled to be live in October, is now going to be open to everyone, thus the reason why it is called, open public beta.

On Sept. 16, Wednesday, "Star Wars: Battlefront" community manager, Mathew Everett, finally announced on the game's official blog that the Beta for the FPS title is going to be open to the public.

"Now that we have officially announced the beta, most of you are just itching to know how you can get in," Everett wrote in the official announcement. "Well, we're excited to say that the beta is open to everyone!"

In terms of contents and features, the Beta is said to come in two different modes, the online mode where fans can play with one another via the Internet and the offline mode for solo play. Furthermore, Everett also revealed that the "Star Wars: Battlefront" open public beta will also feature a split-screen, co-op gameplay.

As for the game modes, fans can of course expect the massive 40-player Walker Assault match on the planet Hoth, as well as, the Drop Zone mode on Sullust.

As previously explained by EA, Drop Zone is going to be similar in concept to the "King of the Hill" game mode, but instead of maintaining the certain part of the map, in this mode, fans will have to capture the pods that will be dropped on Sullust. The winning team must be the first to capture five pods before the 10-minute timer runs out.

Lastly, the Survival Mode is also going to be playable during the open public beta of "Star Wars: Battlefront." This mode will be set on Tattoine and as said on PC Gamer, this can be played both solo and online.

"Star Wars: Battlefront's" public beta still has no launch date yet but the company is aiming to make it live sometime in October. The full version of the game is expected to launch on Nov. 17.
