"Star Wars: The Force Awakens" is easily the most anticipated movie of 2015. A reboot of the "Star Wars" franchise and the first of a trilogy, "Star Wars Episode 7" is set to introduce a new bevy of characters including a strong female protagonist.

Plot details of the cult sci-fi film are scarce as the cast and crew have been scandalously silent on providing any information. Though there are leaked plot details available, they must be taken with a pinch of salt.

According to The International Business Times, "Star Wars: The Force Awakens" follows the story of Finn, Rey and Poe as they journey together to stop the ruthless prince Kylo Ren as he threatens galactic peace.

Set 30 years after the events of the "Return Of The Jedi," "The Force Awakens" will see Kylo's obsession for power as he frantically searches for the lightsaber that comes from the planet of Jakku. Cinema Blend confirms that Rey will be from Jakku, further fueling rumors that she will help Poe and Finn on their mission.

While Poe is described as the best pilot in the galaxy, Finn is a storm trooper. It seems princess Leia will give Poe orders to retrieve the lightsaber. During their mission, Finn and Rey will come together and cross paths with Han Solo and Chewbacca. The dynamic duo assists them in finding the Jedi master and returning the lightsaber to its owner.

Rey is supposed to be a self-sufficient scavenger who lives a lonely life in Jakku.

Entertainment Weekly reports that a sneak peek video of the upcoming "Star Wars" movie will be shown at the D23 Expo in California. The event will run from Aug. 14 to Aug. 16. More details will be known once the sneak peek is out and movie-goers will be an inch closer to the film's release date.

"Star Wars: The Force Awakens" releases on Dec. 18, 2015.
