'Star Wars Rebels' season 3 premiere spoilers: New character to help Kanan in his quest

(Facebook/starwarsrebels)"Star Wars Rebels" season 3 will premiere in the fall on Disney XD.

Kanan will meet an unlikely ally who will help him overcome his physical handicap and establish his connection with the Force in the upcoming season of "Star Wars Rebels."

As per University Herald, a new character will be introduced in the animated series' new installment. A giant named Bendu is said to have a major role in helping Kanan, who has gone blind, fully grasp the importance of being one with the Force.

There is a hint though that Bendu may turn out to be a villain in the series. Described as neither good nor bad, the giant does not support Jedis or Siths, but falls in the gray area between. Kanan will have to very careful in dealing with him, but at the moment, Bendu is the only one who can tell him how to channel the Force. Will the giant be able to help Kanan in his mission?

Kanan certainly needs all the help he could get, especially with his looming fight against Maul. The promo for the new season is said to show Kanan and Ezra facing off with the villain. Maul, however, manages to escape yet again.

Meanwhile, the rumored fight between Maul and Darth Vader is confirmed to not be happening in the next installment. Series creator Dave Filoni put the rumors to rest by releasing a statement to clarify things. According to him, the decision to not include Darth Vader in season 3 was to highlight Admiral Thrawn as the big bad. He also teased that new villains might be introduced soon.

"You know, I've kind of gone on this course, which is pretty, pretty direct about certain things 'cause I don't like to tease people along and then have them be disappointed. So it's really an elected decision to not have [Darth] Vader around because, as we get closer to 'A New Hope,' I want him to serve as that story," Filoni's statement reads (as per The Bitbag.)

"Star Wars Rebels" is expected to return September 24, Saturday on Disney XD.
