Stephen Curry on his way to topping Michael Jordan

The Golden State Warriors just placed themselves on NBA history as the best season starter of all time. The current champions now has an undefeated 23-0 record. Could this be Stephen Curry's initial steps toward joining the ranks of Michael Jordan or even topping him?

After a well-deserved 2014-2015 NBA Championship, the Golden State Warriors started their 2015-2016 season with a record-setting start, which is currently at 23-0. On top of that, their first four games were won with a total of 100-point margin. Because of that, all eyes are on the GSW main man, Stephen Curry. And in a recent interview with ESPN Magazine, as reported by CBS Sports, the 27-year old said he is doing all these to be as great as or to top the greatest of all time, Michael Jordan.

Asked if he wants to top the NBA great, Curry said, "Yeah. Why else would I be playing? You want to be the best you can be. And if the best you can be is better than him, then why not? That's good motivation."

But he's not trying to copy MJ in all aspects. He's trying to climb that particular mountain his own way.

"It's a high mountain to climb, but I'm pretty motivated to take on the challenge. Whatever that means, however you got on that mountain, why not try to climb it? And do it in your own way," he explains.

And indeed he's doing it his own way. And maybe even doing it better. In the numbers posted by CBS Sports, MJ may have had better numbers during his first title season and Curry only did a whole lot better during his second, but he smashed through some of the GOAT's numbers.

Jordan is still the greatest player of all time but Curry is undeniably revolutionising the game. Not only are his numbers looking good, he's also doing that off-the-dribble shooting from 35 feet like it's something easy. If he continues to win more titles, then Stephen Curry's claims of being on the same ranks as Michael Jordan does not seem all too impossible.
