'Stranger Things' season 2 renewal hopes: Producers and actors positive to get Netflix renewal

(Stranger Things / Facebook)"Stranger Things" will most likely return for season 2.

When Netflix Original's supernatural science fiction series "Stranger Things" released last week, it garnered positive reviews and reception. Although the streaming platform has yet to renew the series, fans and the producers of the show are optimistic that it will return for a second season.

Recently, actor Matthew Modine, who plays Hawkins Laboratory's Dr. Martin Brenner, expressed his optimism for the show's season 2. When he was asked by French movie news site Premiere if the Netflix series will return, he confidently said, "Oh, there will be a season two."

Although the actor's statement is not a confirmation, he revealed that the series is planned to be ongoing and not a miniseries.

The executive producers Shawn Levy and Dan Cohen also shared the same optimism in their interview with Slash Film.

"We definitely are hopeful to go several more seasons," said Levy. "And the plan is to continue with this set of characters while introducing a few critical key new ones next season. So I'll just say that a lot of the big mysteries get answered at the end of Season 1." However, he added that the mysteries in the finale of season 1 will just create a new wave of problems and questions that can be explored in the future storylines.

Based on the enthusiasm of the producers, actors, and the fans, it can be assumed that it will most likely return on Netflix for a second season.

While fans wait for the official announcement from Netflix, they might want to watch the entire season once again. When asked if the first installment is filled with Easter eggs, Levy said that fans can notice little tidbits of production design that could be setups for foreshadowing.

However, viewers should note that the breadcrumbs they left behind act as a foundation for bigger revelations in the future. The clues become clearer when watched all over again.
