'Street Fighter V' news: US gamers take part in online stress test

(PLAYSTATION)

"Street Fighter V" is still months away from being released but the developers are already up in heels making sure the game is fully ready when it comes out. This week, the game was rolled out temporarily to American gamers for testing.

Capcom launched this week a two-day online stress test for the fifth iteration of their popular fighting game, "Street Fighter." Gamers from North and South America were able to get their hands on the "Street Fighter V" beta on Aug. 25 and 26, between 7 p.m. to 3 a.m. The stress test was meant to iron out all the kinks and cure all the hiccups that the current version of the game might have.

"Street Fighter V" also had its stress test in Europe and Asia ahead of the U.S. The recent stress tests were primarily to check if the connection issues prevalent in last month's trial run have been resolved.

Though the latest run was expected to be smoother than prior ones, the Capcom-Unity blog still warned beta tests of possible issues. They also reminded testers to be generous with feedback as it is the only way that developers can make necessary changes. Those who signed up for the beta testing were recommended to play the game via a wired Internet connection instead of WiFi.

The July beta test was plagued with so many connectivity issues that it had to be extended to give players more time with the game. The beta version was almost issue-free and stable by the third day.

After all current stress test results have been collated and issues have been rectified, a global beta test is expected to be announced. Stay tuned for updates regarding that.

"Street Fighter V" is the latest in Capcom's long-line of "Street Fighter" titles. New characters like Necalli and old ones like Vega are just some of the confirmed playable characters.

The game is expected to ship on March 2016.
