'Suits' season 6 spoilers: other sides of Rachel to be explored as Mike serves jail term

(Facebook/Suits)"Suits" season 6 will explore the other facets of Rachel after her separation with Mike.

Mike (Patrick J. Adams) would have served his jail term as a married man in "Suits" season 6 if last-minute changes were not introduced to the season finale episode. While the cancellation of the wedding between Mike and Rachel (Meghan Markle) left many of the fans brokenhearted, it is actually an opportunity for the series to highlight the other sides of the now single Rachel, while Mike is in prison in its upcoming season.

This reveal was made by Adams himself when he spoke to E! News recently, wherein he shared that he and Meghan Markle had already shot some scenes together for the said finale episode, but the change in the story was made just the day before filming.

"We've shot a couple of scenes together, and those were great to be reconnected with Meghan for a little bit, but ultimately, for Rachel, it's a great season because she's separated from Mike. Her story (in season 6) is not about how she can service Mike or take care of Mike or keep Mike's secret or be mad at Mike," Adams revealed.

With the separation of the two characters, fans can expect "Suits" season 6 to follow the life of Rachel in a completely different light as her presence on the show will no longer be connected to Mike. According to Adams, this is something that will do the show good as it can highlight girl power on "Suits."

"And I think we need more women on the screen, and we have such powerful women on our show, so to finally get to see Rachel dealing with her own situation, being at school, dealing with a case at school that's very important that she takes on, she is on her path right now," added Adams.

In line with the show's exploration of Rachel's other sides, some new characters are being ushered in to the show to make it happen. According to The Hollywood Reporter, among the new characters that the legal drama series is welcoming to the show for its season 6 is Malcolm Gets, who will breathe life to the role of Professor Dunbar. He is an ethics instructor at Columbia Law who will provide opportunities for Rachel to showcase her legal expertise both inside and outside the classroom.

"Suits" season 6 premieres on USA Network on July 13 at 9/8C p.m.
