'Super Smash Bros. 4' DLC rumors: Shovel Knight said to be appearing in the game; new Mii costumes leaked

(Nintendo/Smash Bros.)

Leaks are the bane of most media, including video games, especially if details about it are still being kept under wraps. The latest to experience this is "Super Smash Bros. 4" and its upcoming downloadable content, with one particular user leaking images and possible new characters.

iDigitalTimes reported a few leaks from a certain 4chan regarding a rumored DLC for Nintendo's "Super Smash Bros. 4." They warn, and so does this site, that all information leaked are to be treated with a grain of salt, as they are in no way official as they have yet to be confirmed by the Japanese company.

The leaks came via a bulky album of screenshots posted on imgur. While there are definitely some nice surprises in the album, the most noticeable will have to be Shovel Knight as a playable character. Shovel Knight is best known to gamers as the main protagonist in last year's hit independent game of the same title.

Shovel Knight has been rumored before to be appearing in the brawler game but this is perhaps the closest anyone got to a confirmation or a visual representation. iDigitalTimes, though, pointed out that a closer look at the screenshot shows that the details on the popular 8-bit character are just not convincing enough.

Independent games seem to be the overall theme of the screenshot leaks as also in the album is a stage with a theme of "Runbow," a successful indie title for the Wii U. This particular leak might make more sense than Shovel Knight as it will do the Wii U a lot of good to promote the said title.

There are also new Mii costumes to be expected, if the DLC proves true. Included costumes from the leak are a red male Pokemon trainer, Chibi Robo, Masked Man, Magnus, and Ice Climber.

Again, these are all still rumors at the moment. "Super Smash Bros. 4" is still available in stores for the 3DS and Wii U.
