Nintendo positions Super Smash Bros 4 to be their redeeming grace as they gear up for its grand release date on 3DS and Wii U in the coming months.

The game has  generated tremendous anticipation, with Nintendo reaveling gameplay trailers and characters at big events such as E3 2014 and Comic-Con, and recently sponsoring a finals event at EVO 2014.

During the recently concluded San Diego Comic-Con International 2014, the game stopped by IGN Live to reveal new gameplay and live demo on 3DS.

Masahiro Sakurai, the game's creator, took the opportunity to announce the inclusion of a new stage for Super Smash Bros 4 3DS through the Miiverse Director's Community.

"For the first time ever in the Super Smash Bros. series, here's a Paper Mario stage! It's made of paper, so strong winds will blow it away," he posted.

Sakurai followed it up with another photo featuring a caption that read:

"Since the stage is paper, it transforms when it folds over and opens up again. This ship is the S.S. Flavion from Paper Mario: The Thousand-Year Door."

There is no word yet if Paper Mario will reach the Wii U console.

Ecumenical News recently reported about the new and returning characters that will be included in the Super Smash Bros 4 roster of fighters.

These include: Robin, Lucina, Captain Falcon, Palutena, Pac-Man, Mii Fighters, Greninja, Rosalina & Luma, Villager, Mega Man and Wii Fit Trainer.

The Nintendo team has been quite successful in stimulating interests as they reveal new combatants one by one.

The seemingly infinite amount of characters to choose from make the title more endearing for gaming enthusiasts.

Super Smash Bros 4 release date for 3DS is scheduled on October 3, while the Wii U edition is promised by the holidays.
