Jeremiah Danvers (Dean Cain) will return on the next episode of "Supergirl" season 2.

The trailer for the upcoming episode called "Homecoming" reveals that Supergirl/Kara (Melissa Benoist) will help rescue her adoptive father from the clutches of Project Cadmus.

The Danvers initially thought that Jeremiah died during a mission in Peru. However, the episode called "Manhunter" in season 1 revealed that he is still alive and was held captive at Cadmus. This could be the reason why the Danvers would want to celebrate the safe return of their long-lost father.

But while Kara and her sister Alex (Chyler Leigh) seem to be obviously pleased to see their father back in their home, Kara's friend Mon-El (Chris Wood) appears to be skeptic about the reason why Jeremiah suddenly came back.

The trailer also hints that Kara might be contemplating about Mon-El's observation. Yet, it may not sit well with Alex. In the trailer, Alex will force Kara to choose which side she is on.

However, Mon-El's skepticism about Jeremiah's sudden comeback might have a valid reason. In an interview with Entertainment Weekly in July 2016, executive producer Andrew Kreisberg hinted that Jeremiah's presence will play an important role in the plot of season 2.

Meanwhile, Benoist hinted that there is a chance to see Kara and Mon-El find themselves in a romantic relationship in the upcoming episodes of the season in a separate interview with Entertainment Weekly.

"Kara is very guarded, she's always felt distant from people and alone," the actress stated. "It's been hard for her to open herself up, and it took a long time to open herself up to Mon-El, but there's a comfort being with someone who is also super-powered and someone who is also not from Earth. There's a lot of synchronicity between them and she takes comfort in that."

The next episode of "Supergirl" season 2 will air on The CW on Monday, Feb. 27, at 8 p.m.
