'Supernatural' season 12 spoilers: Series to return in the fall

(Facebook/Supernatural)Supernatural will move to a new time slot when it returns in the fall.

The Winchester brothers are alive and well, or as well as can be expected. But how will the brothers deal with the return of an unexpected family member?

The Darkness is probably the toughest villain the Winchester brothers ever faced. After all, how can mere mortals defeat God's own sister? The "Supernatural" season 11 finale found a great way how, and the solution is brilliant in its simplicity.

With Chuck/God (Rob Benedict) slowly dying, and the sun along with Him, the Winchesters and their friends decided to make one final stand and built a spirit bomb of sort that would hopefully be powerful enough to take down Amara (Emily Swallow). Unfortunately, the plan also called for Dean (Jensen Ackles) to become the bomb and get close to Amara. But in a surprise move, Dean instead talked to Amara about family. His impassioned plea prompted the Darkness to make amends with her brother, which also restored God's life force. The finale ended with Amara bringing Sam (Jared Padalecki) and Dean's mother, Mary, back from the dead and Toni (Elizabeth Blackmore), a Men of Letters' member, shooting Sam when he returned to the bunker.

Luckily, fans will be able to see what happens next to Sam and Dean as "Supernatural" has been picked up for another season. While The CW hasn't made any announcement yet as to season 7's premiere date, "Supernatural" will return sometime in the fall.

However, "Supernatural" fans would have to adjust their viewing schedule or would have to set their DVRs accordingly as the long-running series will be moving to a Thursday time slot. The show will reportedly air after DC's "Legends of Tomorrow."

The time slot is not the only thing that will change in the series. Apparently, "Supernatural" season 12 will be under two new showrunners — Andrew Dabb and Robert Singer. According to Deadline, EP Jeremy Carver will be taking on the showrunner duties of "Frequency," a new drama that has been picked up by the network.

More news and updates on "Supernatural" season 7 should arrive soon.
