As the first-ever Surface Book is celebrating its first anniversary next month, whispers saying that its next-gen version is coming out are becoming louder and louder.

It was in October last year when Microsoft unveiled its Surface Book. While it's true that the device came with some issues, especially with its fulcrum hinge, it still fell on the good graces of gadget fans on the whole.

As the first anniversary of the device draws near, rumors claiming Microsoft will unveil the Surface Book 2 next month are becoming persistent with each passing day. According to unconfirmed reports, the Redmond-based company is holding an event on Oct. 26 where it will unveil its various Surface products, such as the Surface Pro 5, the rumored Surface Phone, the Surface Book 2, and, possibly, an all-in-one Surface PC.

Apart from the rumor that the Surface Book 2 is getting released next month, it is also strongly speculated that the device will pack the Intel Kaby Lake processor, which only became available recently. This explains why, despite the possibility of getting announced next month, the Surface Book 2 will not be available earlier than 2017.

Meanwhile, apart from packing Intel Kaby Lake, it is also believed that the Surface Book 2 will boast of an improved screen display with 4K resolution, 3D display capabilities, and a USB 3.1 port.

It is also speculated to come with a virtual reality (VR) component.

As already mentioned, one of the problems with the first Surface Book was its fulcrum hinge, which causes a gap between its screen and the keyboard when the device is folded, leaving it susceptible to elements. Hence, it is expected that Microsoft will address this problem and integrate a better hinge for Surface 2.

While there is no denying that the aforementioned specs and features of the Surface Book 2 are nothing short of impressive, they are nothing but speculations at this point in time and can only be confirmed if the device is really announced on Oct. 26.
