Microsoft Surface Pro 5 release date: Surface Pro 4 successor confirmed to release in 2017?

(www.microsoft.com)Microsoft Surface Pro 5 is expected to be arrive in 2017.

Rumors about a new Surface Pro model have been making the rounds for quite some time, but Microsoft has remained tight-lipped as to when this next device will be released.

Most media outlets claim that Surface Pro 5 will be introduced by 2017, the year that the new Intel Kaby Lake processor and the Windows 10 Redstone 2 operating system are rumored to arrive – both of which are reported to be included in the hybrid device's specs. However, there's a chance that a new device might be introduced sooner.

As reported by The Verge, Indian app developer Shubhan Chemburkar recently visited Microsoft's building 88 and had a photo of a wall dedicated to the company's releases over the years. Spotted in the photo were the Surface Book and Surface Pro 4 among others, but there was one spot indicating a 2016 release and had the caption "coming soon" placed below it.

It's easy to speculate that it could be the next Surface Pro 5, and if that's the case, the new device will be introduced to the public before this year ends. It is also possible that the placeholder is intended for a different device. DigiTimes reported last month that the Redmond-based tech giant will introduce a Surface AIO (all-in-one) PC as an alternative to Surface Book 2.

If this report was true, then rumors about Surface Pro 5 being a 2017 release still stand. Besides, the photo of the dedicated wall also showed that there are three more spots for Surface devices to fill and these will be released sometime next year. It is believed that Surface Pro 5 will be one of those devices, just as rumors have been suggesting.

At this point, everything remains as speculations since Microsoft didn't explicitly confirm about their future releases. Fans will just have to wait for more official updates coming from Microsoft.
