Surface Pro 5 release rumors: Latest Microsoft laptop-tablet hybrid to be unveiled in February 2017?

(Microsoft)Shown in the photo is the Surface Pro 4. Rumor has it that Microsoft will unveil the Surface Pro 5 at the Mobile World Congress 2017, which is happening from February 27 to March 2, 2017.

After it was expected that Microsoft would unveil the Surface Pro 5 at its event last month, the latest in the rumor mill is that the laptop-tablet hybrid will finally be unveiled in February 2017, along with another alleged Microsoft device, the Surface Phone.

Prior to the Microsoft event that took place last month, it was heavily believed that the company would unveil the latest Surface Pro device in the then upcoming event. However, the event commenced and concluded without even a mere mention of the said device.

This doesn't mean, though, that Surface Pro fans cannot expect the latest version of the device from Microsoft. If the latest rumors are to be believed, fans may not have to wait that long before the Surface Pro 5 arrives as, allegedly, the device will be launched in March next year.

As it is said that the Surface Pro 5 will arrive along with the rumored Surface Phone, there is a possibility, indeed, for the laptop-tablet hybrid to be unveiled in February next year. After all, rumors claiming that the Surface Phone will be released at next year's Mobile World Congress (MWC) in Barcelona Spain are also getting louder. As the MWC 2017 is set to happen from Feb. 27 to March 2, 2017, rumors claiming that the Surface Pro 5 will arrive in February 2017 seem to be in sync with the date.

Although there were those who suspected that the Surface Pro 5 would be launched at the Microsoft event last month, there were also those who doubted if it was really going to be the case. After all, it has been strongly rumored that the device will pack the latest Intel processor, the Kaby Lake.

According to some reports, though, Intel Kaby Lake processor will arrive in January next year. Should this really be the case, then, it is likely for the Surface Pro 5 to arrive mid-2017 or stick to the current Intel Skylake processor if Microsoft really has to release it within the first quarter of 2017.

While the news on the Surface Pro 5 possibly getting released in March next year is great news, nothing is confirmed as of this writing. Hence, everything has to be taken with a grain of salt for now. In the event that the device is really unveiled at the MWC 2017, well and good for those who are excitedly awaiting the arrival of the device.
