Amid all the woes that the South Korean tech titan has been facing for the past months, including the hospitalization of its chief executive and blurry succession planning, Samsung shows no sign of retaliation as rumor mills speed up in saying that Galaxy Tab S will soon see the light of day, with a July or August release date.

A lot is riding on the new smartphones and tablets that will be introduced to the market by Samsung this year.

Reuters reported that Samsung is facing three consecutive quarter of disappointing sales, that can be attributed to lack of innovation from their mid-range lineups and persistent Chinese competitors like Huawei.

"The earnings deliver a harsh reality check to Samsung that it is not Apple, but Samsung. Its strategy of selling phones at expensive prices will not work anymore, as Chinese rivals also offer good enough phones at much cheaper prices," Lee Seung-woo, a technology analyst at IBK Securities told Reuters.

But, before wrapping your heads around the new tablets that are to come, here is a comparison between Samsung Galaxy Tab 2 vs Tab 3.

Launched in 2012, Samsung Galaxy Tab 2 carries a 7-inch display with 1024x600 resolution, 3MP rear camera, VGA front camera, 1 GHz dual-core processor and runs Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich.

Its successor was released in the market in 2013.

Samsung Galaxy Tab 3 sports an 8-inch screen (with 1280x800 resolution), which is fairly similar to that of Apple's iPad and slightly larger than Amazon's Kindle Fire HDX and Google's Nexus 7. It has a 5MP rear camera, 1.3 MP front camera and runs Android 4.4.2 Jelly Bean.

Samsung Galaxy Tab 2 vs Tab 3's prices are expected to drop significantly with the dawn of Galaxy Tab S or Galaxy Note 4, which will presumably be expensive high-end products.
