'Teen Wolf' season 6 cast news, premiere date: Dylan O'Brien will still be part of new season; casting call teases flashbacks of Stiles from first season

"Teen Wolf" fans have long been used to the series premiering in June for the past 5 years. However, things are apparently going to be done differently in season 6.

The popular supernatural comedy-drama is already in production, and while that's good news for fans, they're also wondering whether star Dylan O'Brien will still be part of the upcoming season.

The actor had already shot a few scenes for season 6 before his accident on the set of "The Maze Runner: The Death Cure." O'Brien was seriously injured when he fell off the motorcycle he was driving while filming a scene for the movie. He reportedly suffered lacerations, a facial fracture, and a concussion.

O'Brien's injury has had fans wondering whether he will be well enough to reprise his role in season 6. But "Teen Wolf" showrunner Jeff Davis had been quick to clarify to Creative132 that they're not replacing the 24-year-old actor and assured fans that O'Brien will be back on set as soon as he's physically fit. However, he apparently won't be able to do any stunts.

Interestingly, the producers are apparently looking for a photo double for the actor. A casting call requirement stated that the double "must look like the man in photo," with a photo of Stiles from season 1 attached. Fans were quick to deduce that season 6 might be featuring several flashbacks. However, a separate casting call notice was also posted, but this time, it's looking for a double that can pass off as Stiles from the previous season.

While O'Brien is confirmed to be returning, fans won't be seeing Tyler Hoechlin anymore. The actor, who played Derek Hale, has reportedly left the show for good. He praised the series and said he enjoyed his story arcs but that his part had already ended. However, fans will be able to see Hoechlin in "Fifty Shades Darker" where he's set to play Anastasia Steel's boyfriend.

No return date has been set yet for "Teen Wolf" season 6, but fans are hoping it will be aired later this year.
