'Tekken 7' release date: Director Katsuhiro Harada confirms character list at E3 is not complete

(Bandai Namco)Akuma from the "Street Fighter" series will enter the fray in "Tekken 7" which reports suggest will be out early next year.

Before "Tekken 7" makes its way to the PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One early next year, there are already heaps of details about the upcoming title circulating online. The most recent are rumors on the new characters added to the game.

Tekken series director Katsuhiro Harada responded on the new characters of the upcoming title. In the recent Electronic Entertainment Expo (E3), the game confirmed 29 characters will be included in the game. One of the most notable among all confirmed characters is "Street Fighter's" Akuma.

In his interview with GameSpot, he was asked if the game will add more characters after the launch. Harada only confirmed that the list they presented at E3 is not the complete one; however, he did not comment on who will be the additional characters or who will be returning. He also said that they have not finalized their plans on adding an expansion content or not.

Harada also expressed his opinion on the recent Capcom "Street Fighter V" controversy about the PlayStation 4 input lag.

"It's quite frustrating to keep hearing this question, when it is hardly relevant," he said. "Don't try to sum up the whole of a game's mechanics with one catchphrase. Tekken 7 is the first arcade fighting game to have online play between arcades around the country...Do you really think it would be this successful and well received if everyone was complaining about input lag?"

As for the title's gameplay, game designer Michael Murry told Siliconera that the difference of "Tekken 7's" combat system from "Tekken Tournament 2" is what the players call "tailspin." The upcoming game's tailspin will reach a bit further toward the wall than the previous title. He also added that the game will no longer have extremely long combos.

More about "Tekken 7" and its character list will be revealed soon.
